Sheila Hamilton
began her classical music training at age five and sprang into professional
performing as a teenager. She has concertized extensively in the
Cleveland, Ohio, and the New York Hudson Valley regions, and appears on numerous
CDs on the SYDA Foundation label, including Raga Taranga
(SYDA
106385 0637). Ms. Hamilton was a student of the celebrated
Julius Baker
and Metropolitan Opera flutist Trudy Kane, both of the Julliard School. A double scholarship recipient
(flute and piano), she holds degrees from Eberhardt-Karls Universitaet in
Germany and S.U.N.Y, and has performed in masterclasses with Joshua Smith, Gary
Schocker and Jeffrey Khaner. Ms. Hamilton maintains a
private flute studio and serves on the faculties of the Mountain Laurel Waldorf
School in New Paltz,
Dutchess Community College in Poughkeepsie, New York,
and the Arts Community of New Paltz.
